Pudtol, Apayao- One of the most anticipated highlights for Pudtol’s 68th Founding Anniversary and 9th Pinya Festival this 2024, is the first-ever Inter-barangay DRRM Rescuelympics where District 1 emerged as the champion.
As the winner, District 1 which comprised of barangay Poblacion, Amado and San Luis, received a cash prize of P20,000, and a certain amount from Mayor Hector Reuel Pascua, himself.
The event took place in Barangay Swan this June 29.
The event was participated in by eight ( 8 ) clustered Districts of Pudtol consisting of barangay officials, SK officials, and barangay health workers.
As emphasized during the reading of Rules and Mechanics, the activity aimed to prepare participants on a timely and appropriate provision of emergency response techniques during disasters and emergencies. It was also held to measure the responders’ capacity and performance on surpassing the 9 Station challenges which include Knot tying, bandaging, splinting,CPR, packing/carries,unpacking,fire suppression, question and answer, and sack race.
Earlier, Mayor Hector Reuel Pascua, meantime, underscored that the activity “was not just a mere race of swiftness, but a meaningful competition that demands sacrifice, teamwork and competency.”
Meanwhile, District 4 was awarded the first-runner up with P15,000 cash prize, and District 3 being the second runner-up, was given P10,000. Minor awards such as Best in bandaging, fastest on Knot tying, and most resilient team were conferred to Districts 4, 2 and 8,respectively. On the other hand, Districts 2, 3,5,6,7, 8, received consolation prizes amounting to P25,000.
In order to win said competition, each team needs to adhere to the mechanics provided and execute proper and efficient first-aid strategies.
Echoing the significance of the activity, PDRRMC Geoffrey Borromeo pronounced a provision of first aid kits from the Provincial Government of Apayao as tokens for all Rescuelympic participants.
